What's the best invention, ever? If you think about it for awhile, what would you say?
I thought... my Pizzazz is pretty nifty. My indoor grill comes in handy a lot. But when all is said and done, what is something I use on a very regular basis, that eases my life? My slow-cooker, of course!!
I bought this one this year, because I broke 2, yes TWO, ceramic liners while washing them:

Pictures belong to Wal-Mart.
The insert on this one is not ceramic, it's a lightweight metal, which means I can take it out and cook with it on the stove! So if I need to brown some ground beef beforehand, I can do it with one pot! (I hate doing dishes.) It's non-stick, and so easy to wash because it's so light! And it cooks everything so evenly, it all turns out great! I will never go back to a heavy ceramic slow- cooker again.
Life is so much easier when I can just come home from work, and not have to worry about when to start supper. Or what to make. Or when Jim will be home to eat. If I get up about 5 minutes early in the morning, I can just throw things in the cooker, set the timer, and be on my way. Then I come home to a house filled with delicious smells, and supper ready for me whenever I want to eat. And the cooker can stay on "warm" til Jim gets home to eat.
This morning, I decided to use a beef roast that Jim's mom gave us. She is always giving us free food. We went over to her house Sunday night, and I had a Klondike bar with her. She ended up sending me home with the whole pack. I told her to keep them for herself, but she threw them in a bag, along with a brand new owl-themed dish towel and a copy of Women's Health, and urged me to take the goods home.
Anyways, the beef roast is an Angus beef roast from Hy-Vee and it looks very lean! I'm excited for it. Here's how I put it together:

Slow Cooker Beef Roast
You'll need:
1 beef roast
1 packet beefy onion soup mix
4 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
3 large red potatoes
1 cup baby carrots
My roast was still frozen, but that's okay! I've done this before. Just put it in the slow-cooker, it'll be fine!
Cut up the potatoes and toss them in, along with the carrots. Eat a carrot while you're at it. That's just me? Okay, moving on.
Add your apple cider vinegar over the roast and veggies.
Sprinkle your beefy onion soup mix over top everything, and put the lid on.
Cook on low for 8 hours.

Come home, smell the glorious-ness, and devour your dinner.
Your dinner that is already READY for you, by the way! Slow-cookers are lifesavers.
